Flatwater Austin Healey Club Newsletter
 Page 2

From The Derby Abbey Community News:
"We apologize for the error in the last edition, in which we stated that 'Mr. Fred Nicolme is a Defective in the Police Force'. This was a typographical error. We meant of course that Mr. Nicolme is a Detective in the Police Farce."

The 1999 Heartland Regional

For several years the Heartland Regional has been one of the FWAHC's favorite events. We begin talking about the gathering in January, querying each other whether or not we have received registration materials in February, and make our motel reservations in March. We attempt have all projects done enough that we can drive the LBC to the event. For many of us, if our show is excluded, this is the event of the driving season.

This year's Heartland Regional confirmed the reasons why we look forward with such anticipation to the second weekend in June. The 1999 event, complete with a new location, was the equal of all that have gone before it.

The traditional Friday drive had its surprises. The first came in Omaha, when it was discovered that one of the editors had misunderstood the meeting point in Omaha. Fortunately most LBC owners now have the essentials in their tool box (chief among them is a cell phone) so that little glitch was overcome.

The second occurred in Brownville, where we discovered that the usual eatery overlooking the river had closed a few months back. However, that was no great tragedy as we discovered a delightful little cafe on main street that served excellent food and, in an astounding demonstration of the lack of good sense, were not at all intimidated by about 12 cars worth of LBC crazies descending upon the premises.
