Other than the damaged pieces, the car is complete. There is some rust involved, on fenders and outriggers, and some rust starting to show on the deck lid. The left front corner appears to be pushed back about 4 inches. Obviously that fender the cowel, top and bottom, the front bumper, the grille and the radiator were destroyed in the accident. There is some damage to the bonnet as well.

As Lewis says the car is not pristine. He wanted to restore the car himself, and tried to do such but had a bad experience with a now defunct shop in Lincoln. He no longer feels he has the time or energy to pursue all interests. Thus, as he sets out to simplify his life the Austin Healey, the only car Lewis bought new, is now for sale. It does not currently run, but I suspect the engine is free is as it was running at the time of the accident about 8 years ago. I told Lewis that I thought the car was worth about $1000 to $1500. But I admit to being a Scottish farm kid, and someone else might think it worth more, so I would put it in the newsletter to see if there was any other interest.

I offered what I believe to be a fair price. However, I would not be offended (and Martha would likely be relieved) if someone else offered more. Should you desire taking a look, call Lewis Martin in Omaha, (402) 330-4635 or write Lewis Martin, 607 Meadow Road, Omaha, NE 68515. This is a restorable car.

Whether in my garage or someone else's this car deserves to be brought back to a road-worthy condition. It will take great effort and should the work be done by hire it will not be inexpensive.. But this BJ 8 should be brought back to its former state.

Remember When . . .

Close your eyes.....And go back in time.... Before the Internet or the Mac, Before semi automatics and crack. Before SEGA or Super Nintendo... Way back........ I'm talking about hide and seek at dusk. Red light, green light. The corner store. Hopscotch, butterscotch, doubledutch, jacks, kickball, dodgeball. Mother May I? Red Rover and Roly Poly Hula Hoops.

Running through the sprinkler. The smell of the sun and licking salty lips.... Wax lips and mustaches. An ice cream cone on a warm summer night. Chocolate or vanilla or strawberry or maybe butter pecan. Wait......

Watching Saturday Morning cartoons...short commercials, Fat Albert, Road Runner, He-Man, The Three Stooges, and Bugs, Or staying up for Gunsmoke!

When around the corner seemed far away, And going downtown seemed like going somewhere. A million mosquito bites. Sticky fingers. Cops and Robbers, Cowboys and Indians, Zorro. Climbing trees. Building igloos out of snow banks.

Walking to school, no matter what condition the weather was. Running till you were out of breath Laughing so hard that your stomach hurt. Jumping on the bed. Pillow fights. Spinning around, getting dizzy and falling down was cause for giggles.
