May Events

Ice Cream Thursday, May 10th at Baskin Robins, a bit south of 70th and Pioneers at about 7:30 p.m.

Breakfast at the Mahoney State Park Lodge, Saturday the 12th at about 9:30 a.m.

Fish will be held at the Windmill Inn in Nehawka, NE on Friday, May 25th, at about 7:30 p.m.

The year's first driving event, a Lake Tour and Renaissance Festival at the James Author Winery will be Saturday, May 19th. We will meet at the Southeast Community College Parking Lot and will embark on the journey into the past at about 10:00 a.m. The cost is around $15/person, depending upon how much one eats and drinks. The food is good, some of the wines are award winners, and the entertainment includes gallant knights doing battle and dancing girls! What more can one ask of life? We hope to see you there.

Best Wishes Fred!

We are pleased to report that R. Fred Holbert is on the mend after a rather nasty heart attack. All appears to be going well now, and we expect to see Fred, DeeDee and the Blue Big Healey in our ranks again soon.

In one of the ironies of life, FWAHC member Bob Weddington was on the fire crew that responded to Fred's emergency. One never knows the extent to which a club member may end up helping another.

From the President's Garage

Greetings one and all from the cozy confines of the Presidential Garage. What a beautiful May this is starting out to be. I started up the old 'B' the other day and I'm all ready to go for a cruse.

I couldn't make it over to Lincoln for the Air Show on the 28th and 29th, though. Had to work (really). But there is a great write-up about it inside. Thanks again to Russ DeVoe for arranging a fun and exiting weekend.

We have the winery tour coming up towards the middle of the month in Lincoln. The whole thing is done up in medieval England style... and if anyone goes down to Superior, NE on the 26th for the Lady Vesty Victorian Festival they will see Leta Powell Drake; programing Manager for Nebraska ETV, and our very own Barbara Rixstine; lately of Wichita, KS. They will be riding on one of the parade floats. Dressed in Victorian garb no less. This is about as Victorian as Barb gets.

Well, I could ramble on for another page as this is the only time I ever get to say anything but I'd better put on a closing and let you read all the good stuff inside. Keep those stories and articles coming. Pictures are welcome, too. Otherwise, I'll come out and hound you for some.

Have a great month and see you all at Fish if not sooner.

Marvin Marshall

Two boll weevils came from the country to the city. One became rich and famous. The other remained the lesser of two weevils.
