one last year. Instead of lasting a grueling 27 hours, this one will only be a grueling 20 hours. Also, a lot less miles too. Basically, we're starting the rally at around 6 a.m. on Saturday, March 23rd. We'll meet at the traditional spot which is the Hooter's on Lackland Rd in Westport. It will be there where we hold the driver's meeting and start out on the check run. The check run, of course, is where we run a set course and compare the mileage you get to the set mileage on the control car. We then determine a mathematical formula to figure the offset. After the mileage run, teams will be given their list of locations to which they must drive. Last year we had 10 locations spread pretty much over most of the state. This year, we're increasing the number of stops to about 16 but we're limiting the area those stops are in to mostly the Ozark region of the state. This will not only make for spectacular driving most of the trip, but should make the skill of map reading a bigger factor in the outcome.

Once you receive your list of locations, it is up to you and your teammate to determine in what order you want to go to the sites and which route you want to take. The whole key is to read your maps and to try to find the order and the routes which will return you to Hooter's in Westport while covering the least number of miles. (Sticky rules time - no GPS nor laptops allowed, must be paper maps only.) Once you figure out which way you will take, then you will proceed to the locations and once you get there, you must take a picture of your co-driver (or your co-driver will take a picture of you) using a Polaroid camera standing in front of whatever is specified for that location - it may be a statue, it may be sign, it maybe an building, etc. After getting all 16 of them, you will go back to the start and have your final mileage recorded. Also, another point, the ending time for the rally will be 2 a.m. that night. Any teams not making it back to the finish by 2 a.m., is disqualified. Teams can then check in at the host hotel, the Red Roof Inn, or can go home.

We'll meet up again at the hotel the next morning at 9:30 a.m. for an awards ceremony with donuts, bagels, coffee, juice, etc. This will allow teams to get some rest before then and also allow out of town teams to get some sleep before their long drive home on Sunday.

Last year, we had 15 teams participate in the rally‚which was the most ever. We're really hoping to up that amount this year to 20. If you've never competed before, we wish you would consider it. It is one of the best events of the year and it really gives you a sense of adventure. We've had people drive all the way down from Minnesota and Michigan to compete then drive all the way back the next day. Last year, a local competitor had a friend fly all the way in from Seattle to be his co-driver. Sure it's tough, but it's fun. Give it a try, you won't regret it. Ever wonder about those people who spend $2.00 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backwards.

Isn't making a smoking section in a restaurant a lot like making a peeing section in a swimming pool?

OK...so if the Jacksonville Jaguars are known as the "Jags" and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are known as the "Bucs," what does that make the Tennessee Titans?

If 4 out of 5 people SUFFER from diarrhea... does that mean that one enjoys it?

The Bible contains six admonishments to homosexuals and 326 admonishments to heterosexuals. That doesn't mean God doesn't love heterosexuals -He just thinks they need more supervision.
